This class is led by Kim Germain, an experienced AKC Evaluator and certified tester for the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. You and your dog will learn practical, reliable skills using Kim’s engaging, game-based methodology. To achieve real-world confidence, consistent practice is essential: reinforcing these fun games at home between sessions is key to building a reliable companion.

Ditch the Drills, Keep the Results. This class is the next step for dogs who know basic commands but need rock-solid reliability and enthusiasm! We turn essential obedience skills into fun, motivating games that boost your dog’s focus and transform training from a chore into a highly engaged partnership. This game-based method is the fastest way to achieve a highly engaged companion whose skills truly hold up in the real world.
Our curriculum is strategically built around the practical skills required for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. We replace boring drills with dynamic proofing challenges, ensuring your dog can perform reliably under pressure. For example, we use “Red Light, Green Light Stays” to build reliable duration under distraction, and “Follow the Leader” through obstacles to perfect heel-side attention. You will master everything from polite greetings to reliable distance stays.
This class is a unique way to prepare for the AKC Canine Good Citizen title. While the test itself is not included in the course fee, an optional official CGC Test Day can be offered following the final session for those ready to certify their achievements. Don't just practice commands - gamify obedience and earn a reliable, joyful companion you can confidently take anywhere!
Don’t forget to bring treats for your pup and a current vaccination record! You will receive both a text message and a welcome email about a week before class begins with all the information you need to be prepared.
There are no refunds for missed classes. If a class must be canceled by North Star, a makeup class will be scheduled.
