Location:
Community Room, Town Offices at Whitefield
56 Littleton Rd., Whitefield, NH

Dates:
Wednesdays, 5:30 - 6:15 PM
July 9
July 16
July 23
July 30
August 6

(Makeup date: August 13, if needed)

Course Description:

This class is designed specifically for shy, timid, and non-aggressive dogs of any age who need help building confidence in a controlled, low-pressure environment. Rather than focusing on obedience or teaching new skills, this course prioritizes helping dogs feel more secure around unfamiliar dogs, people, and experiences.

To ensure a calm and supportive atmosphere, class size is limited to just four dogs. This allows for plenty of individual attention and helps prevent overwhelming situations.

Through carefully structured exercises, we will encourage appropriate social behaviors and create positive associations with new stimuli. Handlers will learn how to read canine body language, support their dog’s comfort, and reinforce small successes in a way that fosters trust and confidence.

The curriculum is flexible and tailored to the unique needs of the enrolled dogs, ensuring that each dog progresses at their own pace. While we can accommodate requests to practice basic skills, this is not an obedience class. Our top priority is making new experiences as positive as possible, which may mean spending time simply rewarding your dog for relaxing.

If you have a sensitive pup who needs gentle guidance to feel more at ease in the world, this class will provide the support and structure to help them thrive.

What to Bring:

  • Treats/rewards for your dog

  • Current vaccination records

Family members are welcome and encouraged to attend! Approximately one week before class begins, you will receive a text message and a welcome email with all the details to help you prepare.

Policies:

No refunds or credits will be issued for missed sessions. However, an email summary of the skills covered will be provided. If North Star cancels a session, a makeup class will be scheduled.
