AKC Canine Good Citizen Prep *1 spot left

$175.00

Location: Community Room of the Town Offices at Whitefield, 56 Littleton Rd. Whitefield, NH

Dates: Thursdays, 4:15-5:00 pm
July 3
July 10
July 17
July 24
July 31 - Testing Day (We may break this class up into smaller sections)
(Makeup date: Thursday August 7th - if class is canceled.)

This 5-week class is designed for dogs that have a solid foundation of training. If you are interested in pursuing a Canine Good Citizenship title, or simply wish to prepare your dog for more public settings, this class is for you! The final class will include the optional CGC test. Dogs in this class must be able to maintain focus in the presence of other dogs (we understand they aren’t robots!) and know basic cues such as sit and down.

We will practice acceptance of strangers, sitting during greetings, husbandry, loose leash walking, walking through a crowd, sit/stay, down/stay, recall, behaving politely around other dogs, staying focused while distracted, separation from owner, and more. Click HERE for the full list of CGC skills. Don’t forget to bring treats for your pup and a current vaccination record! While treats are encouraged during training, they are not allowed during the CGC test, as per AKC rules. Only flat collars or harnesses are permitted during the test (no face halters, prong collars, etc.).

Family members are invited (and encouraged) to attend. You will receive both a text message and a welcome email about a week before class begins, containing all the information you need to be prepared. There are no credits or refunds for missed sessions. An email will be sent summarizing the skills we covered. If a session is canceled by North Star, a makeup class will be provided.
